RVing Fuel Costs
The key question is how many miles you plan to drive it each year. The average RVer travels 5,000 miles per year. They tend to stay for extended periods of time at each destination, so the RV is not accumulating miles while parked. If gas is $5.00 per gallon and you RV gets 10 MPG, then you cost is 50-cents per mile, which equals $2,500 in fuel cost for a year of traveling 5,000 miles. Do the math for the number of miles you plan to travel, your MPG and your estimate of the cost of a gallon of fuel. Then you will realize that fuel is probably one of the smaller expenses of your total annual travel costs.
